DO NOT GRIEVE THE HOLY SPIRIT
"And
do not bring sorrow to God's Holy Spirit by the way you live. Remember,
he has identified you as his own, guaranteeing that you will be saved
on the day of redemption." Ephesians 4:30
In the last write-up
on the Holy Spirit as our Life Giver, we ended with this scripture i
love so much. Never forget this as long as you walk with the Holy
Spirit.
"The Spirit of God has made me; the breath of the Almighty gives me life." Job 33:4"
Let me say that everything that proceeds (takes origin) from God lives
because of the influence of the Holy Spirit in/upon it. Let's take a
look at the first man - Adam.
Adam became a living soul when God
breathed into him. Infact, Eve was not breathed into but taken out from
Adam (ie she proceeded from already existing life of the Spirit in
Adam). That's how powerful the presence/anointing of the Holy Spirit is.
If you receive life from Him, just know that everything in and around
you will live.
Adam and Eve were full of God till they chose
to disobey the instructions from the very one that is their source of
existence. As was the instruction "the day you eat of it, you shall
die", death became eminent and sin multiplied greatly but still yet, the
Holy Spirit was still in Man (as a result of God's mercy). Men
constantly grieved the Holy Spirit daily until in Genesis 6, when God
couldn't bear it any more and He said
"Then the LORD said, “My Spirit shall not abide in man forever, for he is flesh: his days shall be 120 years.” Genesis 6:3
The result of the absence of the Life giving Spirit in man resulted in:
1) Absence of life- death, diseases, failures, etc
2) Man's struggles- hard labour, hopelessness, hunger etc
3) Loss of direct communication with God- so God has to speak to them
through prophets, Levites, and men who chose and feared Him- Job,
Noah,Abraham, etc
4) Evil reign- "For the secret of this lawlessness
is already at work, but only until the person now holding it back gets
out of the way." 2 Thess 2:7.
The restraining power to the full
outbreak of sin is the Holy Ghost. That's why the Church must be
raptured before the Holy Spirit is taken away.
Beloved, every
act of sin grieves the Holy Spirit, Jesus and God. His heart is so
tender and easily hurt by our sins, how much more when it's deliberate.
That's why Jesus says every sin against God and Himself will be
forgiven, but that against the Holy Spirit will NOT be forgiven.
Remember, He is first HOLY and then a SPIRIT. The wisest and fastest
thing to do when we err is to confess and turn away from it immediately,
and He will surely have mercy, and restore His sweet fellowship.
So today, I want to beg you in the words of Apostle Paul, especially all that are named by the Name of Christ:
"do not bring sorrow to God's Holy Spirit by the way you live.
Remember, he has identified you as his own, guaranteeing that you will
be saved on the day of redemption." Ephesians 4:30
Love you all.
